Today at 11 AM, Germany is conducting its annual National Warning Day (Warntag) under the supervision of the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK). This nationwide drill is designed to test the resilience and efficiency of the country's emergency alert infrastructure.
Testing Modern Emergency Infrastructure
The core of this year's test involves Cell Broadcast, a technology that pushes emergency alerts directly to mobile devices without requiring a specific app or internet connection. In addition to mobile alerts, the NINA warning app, public radio broadcasts, and traditional sirens are being activated to simulate a real-world crisis scenario.
