When Nvidia released the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, it arrived with 8 GB of GDDR6X memory. While many enthusiasts hoped for a 16 GB variant back then, it never officially materialized. A Brazilian hardware modder has now taken matters into their own hands, successfully creating a custom version of the card with double the memory capacity.
A Frankenstein Hardware Project
The modder essentially combined components from two different graphics cards to build this hybrid. By integrating 16 GB of memory, they have effectively addressed the VRAM limitations that plague the card in modern, demanding titles. However, the upgrade comes with a trade-off: the card uses standard GDDR6 chips instead of the faster GDDR6X modules, leading to a slight dip in raw memory bandwidth.
